Recently, our colleague Neda R., Head of the SAM Team, delivered a guest lecture on Software Asset Management (SAM) for students at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Computer and Information Science.

Introducing Students to Real-World SAM Challenges

The lecture provided practical insight into how Software Asset Management is implemented in business environments and how organizations use SAM practices to optimize software usage, improve visibility, and reduce operational and compliance risks.

Students were introduced to common challenges companies face when managing software assets, including limited visibility into software environments, inefficient license utilization, compliance concerns, and the growing complexity of modern software ecosystems.

The Role of Flexera in Software Asset Management

Particular attention was given to the Flexera platform and how specialized SAM solutions support organizations through centralized monitoring, software usage analysis, process optimization, and better control over software investments.

The session also highlighted the importance of structured processes, continuous monitoring, and data-driven decision-making in modern IT environments.
